Writer's Block: More Island Time

You're packing your bag for that other desert island—the one with no electricity—what 5 books do you take with you?

My choice would be:
  1. Almost Heaven by Judith McNaught
  2. For One More Day by Mitch Albom
  3. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
  4. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
  5. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
I'm all set :)

It's Home Improvement Time!

Recently I discovered something's wrong with our kitchen sink cabinet. The bench has some-what expanded and it's blocking the cabinet doors. I supposed, we need to replace or fix that.

That got me into thinking... more like, planning really, to do bigger things. Like, renovating the whole kitchen area, to also include a full set of hood and hubs and kitchen things. But that would put a big dent in our bank account, thus, we have to source for things first, plan and start saving some funds for it.

While we wait, why not fix the other rooms in the apartment? I've been meaning to do up the third bedroom into a den since months ago. The only thing I've done so far was to move the computer table from the common area in to the room.

I can get easily distracted especially without a list to guide me ;-)

So, here's a complete list of home improvement projects for the year:
  • The Den
  • Mira's Princess room
  • Guest bathroom
  • Hallway / book library
  • Living room
  • Dining room
  • Balcony
  • Entrance
  • Master bedroom
  • Master bathroom
  • Kitchen

Starting with the den because it's the smallest and simplest room to work on, and ends with the kitchen because it will be a major work. Each of those points will be link to it's own 'work-sheet' entry. That entry will have to be tagged as 'friends only' for now until further notice.

Ooohhhh... exciting-ness! XD

Weight-Loss Update

Since I started counting calories and eating within my 'limits', I've lost 3 lbs. Yeay me!

Although, I've kinda stopped recording my food intake because it's the fasting month. It's rather difficult to record anything. Besides, the food that I consume this month, I don't think I can really gauge what it's calorie value.

Anyhow, another 60 lbs to go. Phew!

Pretty much sums up my life at the moment...

Gah!

Life sucks, and then you die.

To Be Vain, Is To Be In Pain

I've been telling myself to go for a facial since, like, forever. After procrastinating for years, I went for a facial yesterday evening. One that I had to prebook a slot for a month prior. I was amazed. There can't be that many people going for their facial service at one time?

But when I was there, I realized why. I suppose if I were to opt for the one in Metrojaya Megamall, I'd have managed to book a slot sooner. However, I chose to go to SK-II spa counter in Isetan, The Gardens.

The facial session wasn't held at the counter itself, as per the usual at other SK-II spa counters. Isetan Gardens has built it's own spa centre with fully equipped rooms. There were a few rooms and I saw Estee Lauder, Kanebo, L'oreal as well as SK-II were allocated a room each.

So there I was, lying down on the spa bed being pricked and prodded by the beautician. The massage part was bliss, though. I just don't quite like the other parts that comes with it :p

The whole ordeal took more or less an hour and a half. I've scheduled for another session at the end of September. I've decided to try SK-II for a couple of times to see its effectiveness, before I try other options. MrDJ suggested Biotherm, whereas Su swears by Dermalogica.

This morning I went to see a neighbour upstairs, who opened up an in-house beauty salon recently, to do eyebrow threading. I admit I'm lazy. I just normally shave to shape my eyebrows. But seeing there's someone who can now do it for me, I thought, 'Why not give her a try'.

And so, I did. And dammit, it's painful. Lol.

The things you do to beautify yourself, eh?
